Thank you for your generosity in supporting Mizna, a Minneapolis-based Arab American cultural organization with a mission to celebrate expression and diversity in the Arab community!

Mizna was formed in 1998 and has done much work to promote Arab American artistic expression since that time. We publish a nationally recognized literary journal, and have presented several well-attended community arts events as well.

We do all of this work as a volunteer-run, non-profit organization that survives on grants and donations. Your donation will greatly help us to continue our important mission. Thank you for your help.

Mizna is a 501(c)(3) organization and donations are deductible for U.S. taxpayers.

Journal: Call for Submissions

In this issue of Mizna, we will examine where different forms of oppression meet. Originally the term "intersectionality" was coined by law professor K. Crenshaw to address the ways in which black women have faced a particular kind of oppression due to the intersection of race and gender.

We are asking you to share with us your stories, essays, and poems that reflect your own experiences or analysis of intersectionality of race, gender, class, religion, ethnicity, etc.

Support Mizna's Work
Mizna has recently received the Knight Arts Challenge from the Knight Foundation for Arab America at Home, which brings incredible authors, films, and arts events into unexpected places (mostly) in St. Paul. We must raise a matching $40,000 in order to received the Knight support! We have already secured $25,000 from generous individuals and foundations, but WE MUST RAISE AN ADDITIONAL $15,000 BY JULY 15! We are working to raise half of that through an online IndieGoGo campaign, and half through a simultaneous check-writing campaign. Please support this important project, and share it with your networks!   MORE >>
