For April’s National Poetry Month: Daybreak is teaming up with Mizna in hosting Aiya Sakr reading and signing from her chapbook Her Bones Catch the Sun.
Aiya was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, but grew up in Amman, Jordan, with Palestinian, Egyptian, and Jordanian heritage. She has a Master’s degree in Literature and Writing from Utah State University. Her work has also appeared in Sukoon, Rusted Radishes, Burning House Press, Nimrod and others. She is set to start an MFA in poetry at Purdue University in the fall.
