The seventeenth edition of Mizna’s Twin Cities Arab Film Festival (TCAFF) takes place September 27–October 1, 2023. This year’s festival takes place in-person at The Main Cinema with a special opening night screening at the Walker Art Center. A select number of films will be available virtually across the US.

The 2023 Arab Film Fest marks the 75th anniversary of the Palestinian Nakba, or the mass displacement and dispossession of the Palestinian people, with a special spotlight on contemporary and archival Palestinian films.

In-person tickets: $12

Student / Senior / Low Income in-person tickets: $10

Virtual tickets: Pay-what-you-can, minimum $5

Virtual screenings are available across the US with a select few available in Minnesota only.

CLOSING NIGHT EVENT

For our closing night event, Mizna presents an outdoor screening under the Third Avenue Bridge, just outside of The Main Theater! Festival sponsor Batroun Mountain Wines will serve Lebanese wine for a suggested donation. At 7:30pm, watch A Gaza Weekend by Basil Khalil, accompanied by the short film VHS Tape Replaced by Maha Al Saati.

This special screening is free to attend with a suggested donation of $10, RSVP REQUIRED.

Limited seating will be available, it is recommended to bring your own chairs to enjoy the film.

ABOUT THE FILM

After the outbreak of a deadly virus, Israel is cut off from the rest of the world and Gaza is now the safest place to be. Israelis are desperately trying to seek refuge there, including British journalist Michael and his girlfriend Keren. When the couple pay a smuggler to transport them to Cyprus via Gaza, they find themselves stuck in a basement with Hamas on their trail. Their fate rests in the hands of hapless Palestinian market traders Emad and Waleed, and Waleed’s resourceful wife Nuhad. TRAILER
