Event details

Sunday, January 14th is International Kite Day. In 2011, the children of Gaza broke the world record for most kites flown, flying 12,350 kites at Al-Waha beach in Gaza. Later, kites became tools of anti-colonial resistance in Gaza.

Since October 7, at least 22,722 people have been killed by the Israeli military and 58,166 are wounded in Gaza. At least half of them are children. Join us for two solidarity events with the people of Gaza, to honor Gaza’s martyrs, and to send a message of solidarity from the skies of Mni Sota Makoce to the skies in Gaza.

January 13, 10am–1pm: Art Build

Join us at Public Functionary to paint or make kites. You can bring your own supplies or paint ready-made blank kites with messages of solidarity.
