18.1, THE SURVIVING ISSUE
The presidential election in 2016 in the United States has reignited the narrative about Arabs and Muslims as expedient villains. This is nothing new, but perhaps there is a fervor and momentum this time around that is especially dangerous. How have we been affected? How have we responded, not responded? How are we surviving? In this issue of Mizna, we’re featuring guest editor Moustafa Bayoumi and work from writers across the country that wrestles with the topic of surviving in thoughtful, personal, whimsical, humorous, and critical ways.
