The RAWI+Mizna Fifth National Gathering will take place at Open Book, which houses the Loft Literary Center in Minneapolis, MN, from September 18 through 21. With literary and dramatic performances, cultural exhibitions, a creative writing workshop, and critical panels. Writers that will be present at the conference will include acclaimed poet and novelist, author of The Girl in the Tangerine Scarf, Mohja Kahf; American Book Award winner Mustafa Bayoumi; co-winner of the International Griffin Prize, Fady Joudah; and Chancellor of the Academy of American Poets, Marilyn Hacker.
In keeping with its mission to promote Arab American arts and mentor writers of all ages, these vibrant conferences are a chance to gather with leading writers, performers, and scholars of Arab American literature in a relaxed and intimate setting. Opening with a mixer at the McKnight Foundation’s beautiful space overlooking the Mississippi River, the conference will include a social film event and the presentation of the Arab American Book Awards by the Arab American National Museum.
