Mizna is Seeking Interns

Mizna is a Twin Cities-based arts organization that provides a forum for Arab American film, literature, and art. Our main programs are the literary journal, Mizna: Prose, Poetry, and Art Exploring Arab America, and the Twin Cities Arab Film Festival. Mizna is seeking interns to help with each of these projects.

Literary Journal Intern
A literary journal intern would be involved with the production and distribution of our literary journal, the next issue of which will be published in November 2012 .
Duties will include:
-Assisting in the production of the journal
-Expanding the presence of the journal in more stores and institutions
-Creating promotional material for the journal’s release
-Helping to distribute the journal upon its release
-Organizing and publicizing events, such as readings, around the time of the journal’s release

We are looking for an intern who has a strong interest in literature and art, excels at communicating and organizing, and is dedicated to promoting Arab American culture and arts in the Twin Cities and around the country.

Preferred skills:
-Graphic design (if this is relevant to you, please provide a portfolio of your design work)

Film Festival Intern
A Film Festival Intern would be essential to the organization of Mizna’s 8th Twin Cities Arab Film Festival, which will take place in Spring 2013.
Duties will include:
-Communications, PR, and community outreach to build an audience for the festival
-Promotional material for both film submissions and the festival
-Assisting the film festival team in various aspects of planning the festival
-Assisting in getting sponsorship and funding from other businesses and organizations.

We are looking for an intern who has a strong interest in film, excels at communicating and organizing, and is dedicated to promoting Arab American culture and arts in the Twin Cities and around the country.

Preferred Skills:
-Graphic design (if this is relevant to you, please provide a portfolio of your design work)

Year-long availability preferred but not mandatory.
