Mizna 24.2 Production Update:

Due to disruptions of our typical workflow in the urgent and ongoing genocide in Gaza, time taken for recuperation with ourselves and our community in these times, as well as the complex composition of this special issue, we have experienced some significant production delays in the making of the Cinema Issue. We would like to update our customers and subscribers that the upcoming Cinema Issue can be expected in May or June of this year. We are deeply sorry for this delay and have been working hard to keep to the schedule we have set for ourselves. We appreciate your understanding amid our present circumstances.

Thank you,

Description

Mizna: The Cinema Issue delves into the relationship between moving image–making and writing through the formal and conceptual framework of fragmentation, a theme which remains increasingly urgent to the SWANA region in the midst of the genocide in Gaza. Guest-edited by Palestinian filmmaker Saeed Taji Farouky, the issue is our most formally experimental publication to date. From vintage movie posters to photo essays, this limited edition issue’s beyond-the-bounds format, designed by Alex DeArmond, emphasizes fragmentation through special printed elements, held together in a single folio.

The issue includes contributions from Andrea Abi-Karam, Emily Ahmed, Nadira Amrani, Sophia Attigui, Aida Bardissi, Banah El Ghadbanah, Lara El Gibaly, Christiane Gruber, Jamie Lee Haddad, Roann Hassani McCloskey, Søren Lind, Raed Rafei, Yasmine Roukiaya, Reman Sadani, Larissa Sansour, Andrea Shaker, Jen Siraganian, Eman Quotah, and Lori Yeghiayan Friedman.
