Deeper Half Blue Listening Session

Listen to the playlist:

This programming was conceived as an extension of Joe’s piece The Deeper Half Blue, for the group exhibition History Is Not Here: Art and the Arab Imaginary. An incredible assembly of artists participated in this session: Sagirah Shahid, Pedram Baldari, Dua Saleh, David Mura, George Abraham, and Samer Saem Eldahr, and Marggie Ogas.

Each collaborator came with 3 tracks that hold personal significance to them, and sat side-by-side in an integrated circle with audience members. Working our way around the circle, each collaborator played a selected song and spoke about why it was chosen. Once every collaborator touched on their first selection, Marggie Ogas interpreted the round of music + conversation through movement. Then we began again, listening and discussing. The songs on this playlist are in chronological order. During the listening session, Dua Saleh generously shared their own unreleased demos with us, which are not included in this playlist.
